Office of Debt Recovery

The Clerk of Court’s Office does not receive ad valorem tax revenue. Instead, it is funded through fees collected for the services it provides. All fee schedules are established by the Louisiana Legislature.

All fees must be paid at the time of service, either through an advance deposit or on a pay‑as‑you‑go basis.

Any outstanding balance must be paid within 30 days. After 60 days, any unpaid balance will be considered delinquent. Delinquent accounts will be transferred to the Office of Debt Recovery (ODR). Once transferred, the debt becomes subject to an additional collection fee of up to twenty‑five percent (25%) of the total amount owed, as provided in La. R.S. 47:1676(E).

A claim will also be filed with the United States Treasury Offset Program. Any payments “eligible for offset” may be seized, up to the amount of your debt plus any applicable fees. Additional collection methods may be used to recover the outstanding balance.
