About Us
Our Heritage, Services, and Leadership
Assumption Parish, nestled in the heart of Louisiana’s “Sugar Bowl,” is a place where history and culture converge. Located approximately 60 miles west of New Orleans and 50 miles southeast of Baton Rouge, the parish has a rich history dating back to the 18th century when French and Spanish colonists settled along the picturesque Bayou Lafourche. This winding waterway has served as the lifeblood of the historic Assumption Parish. With its abundant cane fields, live oak trees, and scenic lakes and bayous, the area showcases the essence of Bayou Country. In Assumption Parish, the food is exceptional, fishing is bountiful, and nature’s beauty awaits around every corner.
The Assumption Parish Courthouse
The historic Assumption Parish Courthouse, the proud home of the Assumption Parish Clerk of Court’s office, stands as a testament to the area’s rich history. Built in 1896, this architectural gem showcases Italian Villa-style architecture and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. It continues to be a symbol of the region’s commitment to preserving its heritage.
Public Records
Access to public records is the cornerstone of our commitment to transparency and service. Records can be viewed in our office Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To further enhance accessibility, we also offer online access to records through the eClerks LA portal, ensuring that even our oldest records are available at your fingertips.
