BIRTH CERTIFICATE HOURS – 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Individuals born in the State of Louisiana or whose death occurred in the State of Louisiana may obtain a Birth Certificate or Death Certificate from the office in Napoleonville. Birth and death certificates are issued Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. Birth Certificates for persons born prior to 1983 may have to be updated by the Vital Records Office. Death Certificates are available from 2013 through the present. Birth Certificates and Death Certificates are printed directly from a Vital Records link and cannot be altered by the Clerk of Court’s Office.
For all out-of-state birth and death certificates, you must contact that state’s particular Vital Records office.
To apply for a birth certificate, you need a valid picture ID. You may only obtain a birth certificate and birth card for yourself, an immediate family member, such as Mother, Father, Current legal spouse, child, sibling, maternal grandparent, or paternal grandparent (if the father is listed on the birth certificate) or a child who you have an Order of legal guardianship for. (Must have a certified copy of a judgment of custody that has been signed by a Judge)
